Ensembles, Bands, & Workshops . . .

String Theory offers a variety of programs designed to provide a group playing experience as well as workshops to help our students broaden their knowledge in subjects like music theory, recording, and the use of specialized gear.  Please call us for complete details or to inquire about upcoming programs.


Youth Rock Band: Are you ready to rock?  This program is for students ages 11 to 18 interested in a group experience.  All levels of student are welcome, but private instruction is necessary.    The group will prepare for performances at our monthly Coffee Houses.  Multiple sections available.
One semester.  60 Minutes per week.  Tuition $575Minimum enrollment: 2  Maximum enrollment 6.

Adult Rock Band: Here's your chance to live your dream of rock stardom!  Or just prove to the kids (and yourself) that you've still got it!  Some  instruction is necessary, but all levels of player are welcome.  The band prepares to perform at our monthly coffee houses.
One Semester.  60 Minutes per week.  Tuition $575

Jazz and Blues Band: This group is ideal for players interested in expanding their performance repertoire.  This group meets Saturdays from 2 to 3 p.m. with Chris Leigh.  This program is for all students in the intermediate to advanced range.  The group will prepare for performances at our monthly Coffee Houses.

Rock Band for Beginners: Want to rock?  Not sure how to begin?  This is the perfect place for student aged beginners to get started.  Learn simple rock songs to perform at our coffee houses.  This group is great for kids ages 7 to 10.

Pop Vocals: Do you give a concert each time you get into your car and turn on the radio?  If so, String Theory has the perfect singing group for you!  This group is open to singers of all ability levels who just want to sing!!  Song selection will include popular tunes easily accessible to everyone.  This group will prepare to perform at our monthly Coffee Houses. 
One Semester.  Tuition: $575  Materials Fee:$20
Minimum enrollment: 2   Maximum enrollment: 8

Percussion Ensemble: Join David Brensilver for this highly accessible program for all students with an interest in rhythm instruments and compositions.  Explore a full compliment of sounds and instruments in this enatertaining program which prepares for performances at our monthly coffee houses.  Great for kids and adults!
One Semester.  Tuition: $575  Materials Fee:$20

Complimentary Programs:

Classical Guitar Ensemble: Complimentary for guitar students.  Requires some experience.  Rehearsals are Mondays from 8 PM to 9 PM.  This group prepares for performances at our monthly Coffee Houses.

Master Classes:

Master classes: These are two hour workshops in specific areas, including recording, music theory, performance and working with equipment.  Check with the business desk to see when the next worshop is scheduled and to be placed on a waiting list to participate.

Workshop – Introduction to the Mechanics of Live and Recorded Sound with Mike Frishman
Purpose: to prepare students with a basic understanding of managing sound in live and studio scenarios. 
Focus: Connectivity, cables, signal path (input and output), microphones, snakes, software, speakers, mixers, monitors, power conditioning, signal processing, most useful terms and their meanings.
Equipment: examples of cables, connectors, mixers, microphones, signal processors, and more will be available for hands on demonstration. 
Comprehensive informational handouts will be given to all students.
